Career Skills Profile

A highly skilled Production Maintenance Engineer with many years of experience in the Automotive, Plastics and Food Industries, I am able to offer an employer the full range of core competencies required within these sectors. I also bring tried and tested expert knowledge of the electro-mechanical maintenance needs of each of the aforementioned business areas.

My career has been spent in pressurised, hands-on environments which require quick turnaround in faultfinding on hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and PLC's.  This ability is backed up by my proven capabilities in essential servicing, corrective reporting and innovative breakdown solutions that allow fast return to production of electro-mechanical equipment.  Equipment experience includes the following:

Food Industry Machines and Manufacturers: -

·        Pumps, compressors, chillers, water heaters, granulators and all site services

A private interest in computing has developed over time into a highly useful skill within the workplace as I am able to work effectively with computing systems. On several occasions highlighting problems with software and hardware, and then forwarding recommendations to the manufacturers, who have In turn added my solutions to their patch or FAQ answers. All of which assists in my fault diagnosis on often complex machinery.

I am flexible, adaptive, innovative and analytical, possessing excellent communication and organisational skills. Enthusiastic and results driven, I prefer to work in challenging environments that require creative thinking and a lateral approach to problem solving.

Curriculum Vitae

Ricky Kilby

Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Production Support Engineer, Honda UK Manufacturing Ltd, 2001 - ongoing

Honda Swindon is one of the major car production sites in the UK. My current role as a Production Support Engineer requires me to work revolving shifts as part of an engineering team covering all the daily production requirements in the Engine Plant; presently producing 1000 engines a day.

Responsibilities include:

·      Constant breakdown cover on a fast moving production line, where reaction time and quick thinking can save money, coupled with pro-active maintenance and the safe servicing and remedial work of all equipment.

·      My knowledge of process sequences, PLC's and ability to read drawings are essential when fault finding on all types of machinery and quick safe solutions are imperative to keep quality and costs balanced.

·      Using a computer I produce worksheets, documents, drawings and databases for either referencing of machine parts or the reporting and planning of remedial work.

Multi-skilled Production Engineer, Sun Valley Foods Limited, 1991 - 2001

Sun Valley is the largest producer of chicken products in the UK supplying a range of high profile companies including Marks & Spencer and McDonalds.  In the context of the production line my role of Production Shift Engineer covering all aspects of servicing and breakdown repair was vital to the smooth running of this high speed large volume food production environment.

During 1994 – 1995 a new factory development was commissioned for Wolverhampton.  I was recruited as a member of the Projects team responsible for the design, buying and installation of one of four completely new production lines and services for the custom built factory working to a strict budget of £4million.

Multi-skilled Maintenance / Production Engineer, Raine Mouldings Ltd, 1990 – 1991

This was a small family business employing 15 operators with approximately 30 machines. I was sole site maintenance engineer and moulding technician responsible for all aspects of production, plant maintenance, site services and new project developments.

Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer & Chargehand, Ekco Plastics Ltd (LINPAC), 1986 - 1990

As maintenance shift chargehand I was responsible for all daily aspects of maintenance, installation, services and production. This covered co-ordination of the shift engineers in response to the production priorities and the constant changes determined by the development department. This was very much a hands-on job, which included liaising with all other departments in an effort to maintain production, whilst planning preventive

maintenance and general servicing of all site equipment.

Apprentice Maintenance Engineer -  Ford Motor Company Ltd, 1978 - 1983

Full 4 year craft apprenticeship, followed by 1 year on shift maintenance cover whilst continuing the BTEC Level 3 studies in Engineering, equivalent to ONC.
